Life and death among the equator and the polar circles. Gunnar Garfors & Jacqui Kunz (IN ENGLISH)

17 april 2025 19:00 - 21:00

Cafe Globen is happy to welcome extreme travel couple Gunnar Garfors and Jacqui Kunz for a joint-presentation. They spent the last two years on an unparallelled journey along the equator to find out how climate change affects ordinary people on the ground. We will be taken on a chaotic and anything but comfortable journey around the Galapagos, through the Amazon and by barge down the Congo River. Expect a rare and engaging insight in the daily lives of fascinating fishermen, farmers and city slickers around the world, as well as eye-opening experiences and heaps of logistical challenges.

Bios:
Jacqui Kunz in an American extreme traveller who has spent a decade in Sudan and South Sudan. She was among the very first individual travellers to visit Afghanistan after the Taliban took over, has hitch-hiked solo throughout Iraq and spends as much time as she can exploring countries such as Iran, Somalia, Eritrea, Yemen and Syria. In 2022 she was voted Nomad Mania’s Most Intrepid Traveller. She married Gunnar Garfors two years later. Her husband’s 7th book “Between the Lines – Life and Death Along the Equator and the Polar Circles” (“Mellom linjene – På liv og død langs ekvator og polarsirklane”) just came out. The Norwegian author is the first person to have travelled to all countries of the world twice.

Gunnar Garfors have shared his stories with us at the café before, bringing his earlier four books.
He was also the first Scandinavian to visit every country in the world.

We are so glad to have both of them back at our travel café again as they truly are part of our community.

Fun fact: according to The Mirror, they are an extreme travel celebrity couple, Gunnar Garfors and Jacqui Kunz :-))
They are super sympathetic and really intrepid travelers !

Mette Ehlers Mikkelsen will present them and bid welcome.
